Education group visits

We offer free guided tours of Henry Moore Studios & Gardens to school, college and university groups, suitable from Year 3 upwards.

Education group visits can be booked on Wednesday to Friday each week during term time.

Our free educational sessions for the 2022 visitor season are now fully booked.

Bookings for visits in 2023 will open later in the year.

What’s included in your visit

One of our Volunteer Guides will accompany you and your students on a tour of the grounds around Henry Moore’s home, studios and gardens, which present an awe-inspiring portfolio of his sculptural works and creative processes.

We encourage groups to think broadly about what subjects can be supported on site. Not just art and design, but also construction, engineering, architecture, mathematics, language, storytelling, history, the natural environment, the power of being part of a community and much more.

Your booking will include additional time for independent study. Feel free to sketch, write or take photos in the sculpture gardens, or use our interpretation room.

Guided tours

We offer two different guided tour options:

An introduction to Henry Moore’s figurative artworks, and the process of using shape and scale

45 minutes

This tour is devised to give an introduction to specific areas of study, tailored in consultation with local teachers.

Guides are provided with an interactive kit of objects and imagery to encourage interactivity and spark thoughtful discussion.

This shorter form tour gives you more independent study time.

An overview of the art and life of Henry Moore

90 minutes

This longer form tour supports student research in more depth and detail by sharing information spanning Henry Moore’s lifetime.

Hear about how Moore’s upbringing, influences, experiences, peers and working processes shaped his legacy past and present.
